Property: The appearance of MoC1₅ varies with the physical state. The solid, liquid and gaseous

states are respectively black crystal, black amber liquid and black amber steam. Molecular weight

is 73.2, melting point is 194℃, boiling point is 268℃, density is 2.928g/cm3 at 25℃. Electric property:

 Insulator at 25℃, at 216℃ is 1.9×10-6Ω, at 258℃ is 7.5×10-6Ω.

MoC1₅ is lively and volatile crystal, high-purity and refractory metal halide. It is volatile in moderate temperature,

decomposes to metal molybdenum deposits in gaseous state, and easily soluble in organic solvent.

Usage: Used as the component of chloridizing catalyst and fire-resistant resin, used in production of hexacarbonylmolybenum

and metal organic compound.
